The plans for this tray started as a dream I believe, but could not be fulfilled as  I did not have the glass as per the dream, so I came up with this. This will be fused, then black paint will be added in 2 broad brushstrokes crossing each other and left to look like brushstrokes. Within the brushstrokes there will be probably some oriental motif blasted into it, after which it will be fire polished and then slumped into it's mold which is a 12 tray with upturned corners (the one I used for the trial weave I did).

The other pic is a pic of 2 trial pendants that have the cap blasted into a filigree so that the dichroic beneath it once fired will turn to a matte finish in the open areas and the normal glittery finish under the cap.

These will be fired tomorrow as I still have another small project to be blasted that has to have a full fuse as well. The small almond squares are for some soon to be painted pendants of pit bulls for a customer.

that purple one is pretty cool -- wish I understood whatever language it is you were speaking in your post so I knew what it is you are going to do with it  grin

If you fire dichroic glass with no clear glass cap on top of it, the dichroic takes on a satin finish instead of being glittery. My hope is that the open areas will take on that finish, while the areas under the clear glass will be glittery, while at the same time dimension is still retained in the clear carved design. I suspect it might fail, but, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I like the idea of the Oriental tray!  Can't wait to see what that looks like painted and sandblasted.

Really like the purple and blue blasted designs.  Will be cool to see what they look like finished as well!

Nice!

Hopefully the pendants will end up as a tone on tone design with a bit if surface texture.

I, too, don't understand the language, but am fascinated by the work. Even if it doesn't come out like you hope, Kev, I know it will thrill most of us.

Well even with my many failures, we all learn what either not to do, or what you can't do, or what you need to do, to make it work....lol

Post initial firing. I did another tray ..black, olive green and almond. This will have an experimental new technique applied to it. I'll post it once the project is completed...lol

The red tray will have the broad black brushstrokes applied with some Kanji lettering in the stroke revealing the red beneath. I might even apply the new technique to it as well.

Curiosity piqued? Stay tuned...lol

The pendants are awaiting to be fired. I can't justify firing up the small kiln for 2 pieces that small...so they are on hold at this time.

Just about everything having to do with fusing and kilns, Kev. LOL  It is interesting reading though, and I love the finished pieces.
