eeh-hee-he ;). To be honest, if we had classes in town I would have jumped on it by now *sigh*. The closest serious glass training is across the border in Maine at a place called Haystacks. I've looked at the summer programs they have coming up and they have a few for glass blowing, but if I was going to travel that far and stay that long I'd want something with a kiln focus which they don't really have right now.
Sometimes I wish I lived in a bigger place!

Well I messaged back with info on the methods I use, it could be someone who thinks kiln fired glass is the same as blowing so it's worth a shot. Mind you I only have one thing currently available in that price range which is a mirror so unless they have time for custom and are flexible on the blowing part I won't see anything from this. But it's cool that they contacted me so someone there knows I exist *smiles*.

The fact that they emailed you is awesome. Call them and sell your idea to them. You can make them a bowl to die for in a week.

They at least know what you CAN do, and will keep you in mind in case they ever need anything else.

Sounds like the mayor's office isn't up to date with the current glass market...It's great that they thought of you though. Good luck!

Wishing you luck Amber!

Haystack Mountain School of Crafts is fairly well known..it's in Deer Isle, and they do indeed have glass blowing.  I think that there is another new studio in the Portland, ME area..but here's the link for Haystack if anyone is interested in a summer vaca. lol.

If it was around here I would definately say this was the case - people don't have a clue how anything is done!
Hope it works out for you!
