Here is what I am doing today. I slumped 2 pieces of 1/4" float glass yesterday 6" x 15" and blasted them today. The one of the dragon turned out really nice. The other one was a stained glass pattern I did last year. I had not intended to frost the whole thing, but part of the resist lifted on a line and ended up being frosted so I frosted the whole thing. It's really hard to get good pics of this stuff, but you can get an idea anyway.
The 3rd pic is a trial piece I blasted using blue Adventurine glass to be slumped in the same mold Nancy used for that red plaid piece that I loved so much with the 4 ruffled corners. My experiment is to see what happens to the blasting after it's slumped. If it goes away..I have a blue Adventurine slumped piece...if it remains, then I have a cool blue Adventurine piece. Either way, it is the first time I have used this mold, and the first time to slump a blasted piece. I could not really get much depth with the blasting because the resist would not stick well because of the texture. In the future I will apply a glue first before laying the resist. I am also slumping the Mother's Day tray as well.
Experiment, experiment, experiment.....

Light does not pass through this glass, it's opaque. It has a sparkle to it in the light similar to the way granite does. I personally am not a big fan of it. I hate the way it cuts...it's very hard and brittle, and I rarely get a complete score to break cleanly if it is a narrow strip being taken off, and even a lot of times when cutting a larger piece off. I certainly won't be buying anymore. I have some of it in green and blue, and they make it now in black as well.

My experience with that glass too Kev. And the piece I got (expecially the Green) is really thick but not consistently so! Expensive glass to be so difficult to work with!

These turned out good. I hope you try the bird and orchids again. It is a good design.
I like the burst on the blue adventurine best. But I like adventuring! I don't like it as a whole sheet like you have it here , and I don't like cutting it. But to put chips of it into a full fuse with clear over it, is wowwy stunning. Like stars in the night sky. Or to add just a few tiny pieces of the green in a mess of random leaves like your birch trees. It really adds that sunny day sparkle. The stuff is magic if you use tiny pieces to accent with.

I'm not a big fan of Aventurine either, Kev, but I like that design. If you slump at a low temp, 1100-1150, you may be able to keep the frosted, matte look of the blasted area. As you go higher the blasted area will go a bit shiny.

I slumped at 1225 and as you can see the frosting is gone. The indentation of the leaves is still there but the lighter appearance is gone. I could blast them again, but won't for this piece. In the future I will probably blast pieces after being slumped, though it will be much more difficult to get the resist on than if it was flat.
The Adventure thing speaks for itself...LOL That is some ugly glass. It looks like a piece of cheap hard plastic.
