This is what I worked on today. It's for a gal at work. She commissioned me to do a tray similar to the lavender one I did before with the green leaves. Her mom is a big butterfly fan. she loves green, purple and orange...so this is what I came up with. I'm currently doing a contour fuse on it now and will slump it tomorrow.

Nice! I like the way the colors pop on the dark base glass. She should be pleased with this piece.

Here it is after fusing. There was a small piece of kiln dust that landed right next to the small leaf, so I thought I would sandblast it out. My resist cutting freehand needs a lot more practice, but I'm OK with the results. Tomorrow I will slump it. I suspect the frosted appearance will fade with the slumping, but this is another experiment for me, and something i wanted to know.

The sandblasted leaf details are interesting, but I think they'll be wiped clean after fusing to. Maybe there will be a slight impression or a light milky appearence left after slumping that would act like a leaf shadow. (I'm hoping for a slight milky appearence from that sand blasting:)
That's a fun piece Kev and looking forward to seeing it after the final firing.
It looks so 3-D like!

AWESOME! Great colors. Love the bi-color flowers.
You may not loose the sandblasting . A slump only has to go to 1200 and wait. A fire polish is 1380 or something like that. Try slumping low and slow to really check out the sand and slump possibilities.

That's what I am hoping for Judy. I have some ideas swirling around if I can keep the frosted appearance.
I must say..it was fun getting out there cutting glass again to make a design. I think I need to do more of it.

LOL...there are more limits than what I wish...lol, but I think I am the biggest limiting factor. I do like trying new things though, and I love being creative.
