This is a piece of float glass slumped (Thanks Ian), sandblasted on both sides, and a few bobbles added for added dimension and a splash of color. The squiggly lines are clear and reflect the light in a really cool way. The pattern reminded me of a brain..hence the name "Wandering Thoughts". It's 8.5" x 13"

Great Kev. When I looked at it I first thought of one of those get me there from here puzzles( cant think what they are called). Still the name would fit and love the fact you added my favorite color. Awesome piece!

Funny...initially I took several of the large cobalt nuggets and carved foot prints into them and was going to have them arranged as if someone had walked through. I thought it looked a little hokey so I decided against it.

My thought was to drill a hole in it and it looks like a light cover. But it might look really cool with a flower frog in the middle and a tiny bit of water.

This result was not my intention...which I guess is the norm for me. I was planning a negative of what I did, but the float did not take on a texture from the mold and was almost as clear as when I put it in, but..there's always a but....there were a few places that had a very slight texture to it and I think I may have gotten a very small amount of bloom on it..therefore I blasted it on both sides.

My understanding (correct me if I am wrong), is a metallic haze that can appear on the tin side of float glass.

It's basically window glass. It is created commercially by melting glass and floating it on molten tin..the glass levels out into an even layer instead of going through rollers. Because there is contact on one side with the tin, it leaves a trace of the tin on the glass. Though not visible to the naked eye, under UV light, the tin side will have a whitish haze. That's how you determine which side is the "tin side". This is important to know when painting on float glass as the tin can react with the paints and off color them. My understanding is it makes a difference when fusing as well as to which side goes against the mold and which side is up. I did not check it before it when in the kiln.
Confused yet?...lol

Well if you were embroidering, making lace or icing a cake it would be called Cornelli work. As it is, it's lovely and you're right about the blooming, it happens to fabrics too, for a different reason. I think all about tinning is on the Armstrong site, or Chris explained it to me.

This is what experimenting is all about. This is really cool Kev and I think the best pieces come about when one lets creativity just have it's way. You're always coming up with these very unique creative ideas, keep going!

Yeah really! There is a simplicity to it that is very appealing. It strikes a chord (or cord?).

That is cool looking Kev. What I thought of when I saw the patterned area is the counter tops of the sixties.
Will be interested in seeing what you decide, cause i really don't understand all the tech stuff.
