This is the finished piece. I cut it and made a base for it. I think this size will work much better for her work station. I still have to clean up the glue, but want it to be well set before I do that.

When you hand-cut your resist, it's very time consuming. More so than cutting and grinding the glass to shape. So I never blast and then cut to shape - a mistake and an hours work is gone to hell. If I cut and grind first, there's only 3 or 4 minutes labour lost if I screw up, and break it while readying it for blasting.

I agree totally. I was an after thought for me to cut it. In the future I will be cutting it to size first and then blasting it.

I ended up using crazy glue to glue it together and it seemed to work quite well. Is there a better choice out there?

Is it just glued on the edge to the flat glass?

Yes. It's pretty solid though. I have seem many glass objects glued in this way.

Yes , it looks great!
What if you glued two tiny strips next to the sign now to kind of set it in a groove

Thanks Barb.
Great idea Judy..thanks! - A thought though...with gluing strips onto the base, the glue that attaches them will be very visible...any ideas?

This is what I came up with. Now she can put business cards or whatever she wants in the small well area. I still have to clean it up though. I also have to try a different type of glue, because when you view where it's glued it looks whitish instead of clear.

Kev, I dont know if it would work or not, but there is a glue out there that is used to glue crystal to crystal, but it needs cured with a UV light. I have a website if you are interested in researching it further. Just send me a PM.

That is just too cool! I really like that she can put business cards in it! Nice shape too! I've often used a product called E6000 for glass to glass bonding or with beading and it holds remarkably well and dries clear..the only issue I've found with it, is that it does seem to take a while to "set up"..so you'd probably have to prop or tape the item until it dries enough to hold things together. You can find it just about anywhere. It's a good glue to have on hand I think. http://www.michaels.com/art/online/displayProductPage?productNum=gc0181De

I would probably use a UV glue for a project like this, Kev. Loctite 349 Impruv was recommended to me by a couple of people. I haven't tried it yet but I trust the recommendation. It's also recommended by This to That, a terrific site to check out when in doubt about glues and adhesives. http://www.thistothat.com/cgi-bin/glue.cgi?lang=en&this=Glass&that=Glass

What a cool idea love it. As for the glue the household goop is very good and dries clear.

E6000 will let go in hot and humid conditions.
I have not tried the UV glues, but have heard good things about them.
