People have been asking us about Boron Nitride sprays. We finally have some information to share.

For those who haven't heard of this product, Boron Nitride works like a mold primer or kiln wash. It prevents hot glass from sticking to ceramic molds and stainless steel. What's even better: One of the ways it is packaged is in a spray can, so it is  really easy to apply.

We found one that gave us consistent results: ZYP Lubricoat.  You can buy it from us (http://www.colourdeverre.com/zyp) or directly from the manufacturer, ZYP Coatings.

Boron Nitride is wonderful stuff, but it isn't an end-all-be-all.  There are some disadvantages. See our write-up, "Advanced Priming with Boron Nitride Aerosol,"  in our website's project ideas section (http://www.colourdeverre.com/projectideas).

Best,
Larry

Thanks, Larry.  I know that there are some users of CDV molds that don't particularly like cleaning the molds and reapplying Primo after every firing that will appreciate this product and will use it even if it is a bit on the spendy side. For now I'll stick with the Primo! Cleaning and reapplying is not that big a deal especially if you get an assembly line going!  smiley

You can get the sample spray from the manufacturer for the price of shipping.
