Another project to use some of the wonderful jewels I was 'gifted".  Did a butterfly too with the jewels as it's body.  These were fun to make.

You're a lucky lady to get those pretty jewels as a gift! I'm sure your friend is proud to have sparked a bit of your creativity!

Nice Anne!  I sure wish I had a friend like that...lol...I have a pattern for a carousel horse that needs a ton of them...of course I'm going to have to purchase mine..sadly.
Hey, looks like you have a rather outstanding view also!

Thanks everyone!

De- what a great idea for jewels (the carousel horse I mean). Looking forward to seeing it!  These jewels were 3/4" - a really good size, had 7 so I used them all!

And yes, we're lucky enough to have a great view.  We live on the side of the mountain with a lake between us and the main city.  Lots of big trees in between and we aren't high enough to see the lake but the city lights are really pretty at night.

I have done a carousel horse with jewels. They are the perfect item for the carousel.

Anne, it was one of the first pieces I did and the lines are uneven as I didn't notice till I hung it, but here it is.

It is very pretty though Audrey, nice glass choices, even if the lines are uneven.  Thanks for sharing! The jewels really look nice in it. Boy we only do that once (the uneven lines I mean) before we learn hey?  I did it too!!

Yes I like the color choices too!  And the jewels really make the piece a standout!  I'll agree w/Anne that probably many of us have learned the line issue the hard way..and consider it part of the learning curve.  Thanks for posting it Audrey!

The pattern that I have...was in an old book I purchased on Ebay..it's just the head and neck, but it's a beautiful design.  I'll have to crawl up over the stairs later and find out who designed that book.  I think it takes some fairly large jewels..haven't purchased them, but it's on my agenda.  Gosh only knows when I'll find the time to do it, but it's one of those "back burner" kind of projects. (along with the Odyssey lamp forms I've got hanging around..)  Not enough time in the day...sadly.

Anne, You keep stringing us along!  wink Tee hee!
Are you going to post a picture of the butterfly you made with the jewels? Or are you just trying to keep me in suspense? Or did I overlook it?

LOL Gwen.  No I hadn't posted a pic of the butterfly. It seemed most everyone here was more into bigger pieces so figured I'd just post the ones I did and leave it at that.  I do this small stuff because of craft shows and I've already packed the butterflys (have to stay organized or I'd always be in such a mess).  I'll dig one out in the next couple of days and post it for you. Any preference on color - lol.

Well, Anne, I can't speak for anyone else, but I like seeing EVERYTHING! Big stuff, little stuff, painted stuff, fused stuff, beady stuff, foil, lead, lamps, votives, mosaics. I'm sure there's more to the "EVERYTHING" that I've missed, but you get the drift!

You don't have to go digging through your packed up goodies for little ol' me, but if you feel that you absolutely must get one out, I like blue a lot!   smiley

Hi Gwen.  I will dig around when next I'm in the boxes, find one and post a pic of one of the butterflys.  They're nothing fancy, just 4 pieces with a jewel for the body.

What are you making? Would love to see your pics too!

Hey Anne! No rush on those butterflies! But if you get around to digging in those boxes, or setting up for a craft show, be sure to snap a photo!

Me? Hmmm... I just got done making several candle surrounds. Nothing too fancy! My best friend is getting married this summer, and my baby sister is getting married next summer. They both asked me to make some candle holders for their reception tables, so I've been practicing with some 3D stuff. I was actually pretty surprised to find that building them wasn't too entirely difficult. They're sloppily constructed, but I'm sure I'll get better with some practice! Once I take a picture, I'll be sure to post some!
Presently, I'm working on a pattern that Chantal recently added to her site, Sun of Uranus. I've been drawing a lot of my own patterns recently (candle surrounds included) but I was just compelled to try out this cool pattern of Chantal's! I'm still in my favorite phase: scoring and breaking! Yay!
