LOL, wasn't aware that American's owned the market for malpractice, but if it does it's certainly not something that I'm very proud of.  Personally, and I say this hoping that none of you are lawyers..but my feeling is that we could ship at least half of them somewhere else and they wouldn't be missed very much. LOL.

Good try Ian!  Nice project, it will be very interesting to me to see what the finished product looks like!  Good for you on the commission!

I really enjoyed the story behind this! Very interesting process as well! Nice designs on those sepia decals, they're lovely.

Okay Stage 2
The paint has been tack fired, the decals have been applied and they have to be tack fired and then we have to do the final full fuse before the final slump. The most interesting part for me is the experiment with the abalone shell. A lazer decal applied over paper dichroic. I think I'm going to have to fire and cap this one in one shot as the decal won't stick to the dichroic. Going to be interesting. It looks okay so far.

De
I should'nt have generalized like that I should have said American lawyers. From what I have read they have taken malpractice suits to dizzy heights.
We have just had an article in our Magazine for Dental Technicians about a lawyer sued a Dental Technician because a patient had ill fitting dentures.
The fact is that the technician does not even see the patient, does not take the impressions and does not fit the dentures. He actually contracts to the dentist not the patient. Needless to say the case was thrown out of court as being frivolous and the lawyer should have known better. rolleyes

These are coming along nicely, Ian.  Why is the decal not sticking to the dichro?

Becki
the decal and the dichro paper are the same size so there is nothing for the decal to fuse to as it leaves a metal residue {iron oxide} when burnt off.
The dichro also being metal oxides will not fuse to the decal oxide at the temps used to fix the decal to glass. So I will be relying on the glass cap to hold the decal in place on the dichro. I.E. the decal will fuse to the glass cap which will fuse to the glass surrounding the dichro holding everything together. This is all an experiment and I hope I have worked it all out correctly.
We will see!

Ahhh, I knew that dichro coating to dichro coating wouldn't fuse.....just never thought about  decals and the iron oxide.  I think your setup makes sense and should work.  I hope so, anyway!

Nope I will have to put them in tomorrow as she now wants a large salad bowl with a decal in it for herself. So I will have to set that up tomorrowand then fire them all at the same time
