Oh, I am silly happy and too busy to breath these days, but I am going to need some help here.

This fall when I returned from the east coast I was called and asked to submit designs for 2 new windows going into our local tiny historic monument church. The designs were to be turned in during Lent and voted on around Christmas. One thing lead to another and I heard nothing. Friday I received a call and I won both designs.

I have talked to the Pastor twice about my being chosen to build the windows regardless of whether I win the design contest. I think I have a good shot at that too.

Here is a link to my designs on their website today. It is a news site so I don't know how long this link will get you to the designs. http://www.alaska.net/~icc/communityNews.html

Oh Judy those are beautiful.  What a wonderful project.

I can't go on the factory forum, so I will not be able to follow your progress.  When you can I would love to hear a few lines every once in awhile Friend.  I know you will do a wonderful job.  It is a very special thing you will be doing, enjoy and I am sure you will be guided along the way.

Great designs Judy!  Good luck with them. I'm sure that they'll turn out just beautifully.  It's great that you got the commission, a SG artists dream come true.  You'll do them justice!

Thanks girls , I am totally overwhelmed getting everything in place to walk into the meeting prepared to answer all their questions with confidence. I am completely out of my element. I hate promoting my own work. But I feel like for the last year or so God has me by the hand and is running ahead of me, as I drag/run behind Him. It's been a lot of work but an incredible ride.

With all that is going on I will try to pop here in at least once a week.

Okay guys and gals, here is the next step in this journey.

I have a meeting with the parish church council tonight. I leave for town in the next hour or so. It's a2 hour drive and I need to do the monthly grocery shopping too.

I decided to do a small sample of my ability, to show I can make a window of the quality they are looking for. Because, my designs were picked but I have not heard offically that they have picked me to build the windows.

She can watch over me while I work, Sweet mama Mary will make good company in my studio.

Here are the pictures of my little Lady. I used silver stain to get the crown gold.

The light makes a huge difference

1. is in a south window before the sun came up over the green house.
2. is a west window the sun is raking low from the south side
3. is in a north window with light coming in from a west window and hitting her on the surface. So transmitted and reflected light.
4. A close up of silver stain applied light in eyes and hair, and dark on crown.

Thanks Joan

The meeting went real well. My hubby went with to hold my hand, that is always a good sign! :) Today I feel like I have a hang over. Too much Adrenalin

The donor for the windows was there and teary. We really hit it off. She kept trying to get my hubby and I to go back to her house for coffee or a glass of wine. But we still had to buy the parishable groceries and drive 2 hrs home.

I answered all their many many questions and the design changes they wanted were things like darker skin than the sketch. I was thrilled! Because design changes can be irritating.

As to who builds the windows, that is still in the works. I am too happy today to worry about it. And the parish counsil lady just called to thank me for coming and get my email address. It is looking good but, "It ain't over until the old 'sourdough' sings. "

Now I need to get back to real life. I just realized my house is a wreck! And my daughter just called and needs me to take her and the baby to the clinic, they have no car today. Ahhhhh life  grin
