Corrections are very much welcomed! I have been busy looking at so many butterfly and moth pictures and finally came up with a wing shape I liked and part of a wing pattern I liked, but then I had to finish off the outside of the wings by myself. I have a large old window so I will double the final butterfly pattern. This will be a glass on glass mosaic. I didn't include the butterfly body because I have that under control. I have two options for the background in mind though I will deal with that once I get the butterfly done. My drawing is too large so I have reduced it for posting.

How big is this to be? It sure has a gang of pieces. If it were mine, I'd reduce the number of pieces, but a lot of that comes from my general laziness. If that's what you're ready to do - so be it. If it's large, then all the little pieces would be less of a pain.

It does look ok if you're into all those pieces but I'm like Graham, for me less is more.

Less is more for me too, the top is a bit too 'feathery' for me, I love the lower wing.

Graham, I drew it on a piece of 8 1/2 x 11, so when I double that the butterfly would be roughly 17 x 22. Pattern pieces will be a good size for cutting.
I get the part about one section is very feathered, I will erase a few lines.
BTW I forgot to flip the drawing before saving so the top is the bottom and the bottom is the top.

I also like the top (bigger) wing, but find the lower one a bit 'busy' - though I do understand it is to be quite big. From my own experience - I find that the more pieces I have, the more colours I want to use - and tend to end up with a mexican sunset!! But that's me!! Love the overall shape - looking forward to seeing it in real life!

For sure I will use purple and green, I never tire of that combination and it compliments my living room colors. I have some bits of the multicolored glass left over from the purple/green interlocking star that are perfect for this piece.
To help me decide I am cartooning to see which combination appeals to me the most. This could take me awhile, so many possibilities.

I really like version 2. It seems, somehow, much more balanced between the top and the bottom.

Here's my take on it, but first let me say...a beautiful design! I quickly did this up in glasseye for you so I can send it to you for resizing. I did leave a few lines out, but can add whatever you want and will send to scale in pdf format so you can print it out on multiple pages.

I saved it Kev, thanks!
Tonight I completed 15 cartoons, reminded me that I did enjoy coloring and still do! Also reminded me of coloring with my children all happy memories.
I know I'll use both semi antique purple and green. The third glass is (sorry I don't have the info on mfg and code) but it's the left over from the purple green version of the interlocking star many of us made.
I still want to play around with color positoning till I see "the one".

I ran into a slightly snag. The window I had planned to use has already been used for the wreath (I totally forgot about that!!!!), then I thought I had another one the same size but all I have left are multiple pane windows. Pinkcb has just put one aside for me but my girlfriend isn't coming to Montreal until Easter. If either one of us hears about someone coming earlier we will try to arrange transportation. Kev has already resized the pattern for me so I can get the glass ready once I settle on my favorite glass combination. That's all for now.
