I personally don't glue my patterns to my glass; however, I inherited a piece that was partially finished about a year ago and it was stupid to throw it away so now that I finally found the glass to finish it (one major part of the design is done in white ring mottle and a large piece was broken and couldn't be salvaged) I'm grinding it today...
My dilemma is whatever she used to glue the paper pattern is leaving a residue on the glass that I'm not able to get off with windex or goo gone... so I'm looking for suggestions... doesn't help that the glass appears to be an armstrong black so there is a slightly textured side and on most of the pieces that is the side she applied the pattern to.
thanks Lou Ann

If all else fails, try Goof Off.

Have you soaked them for awhile in hot soapy water? I assume you have, but it's worth a shot. I also add ammonia to mine. I wonder what on earth they used for glue?
I have glued pattern pieces to glass..but usually use either a glue stick or rubber cement..it always washes off very well. But I don't leave it stuck on for any length of time either.
Lots of good suggestions here, I'd try acetone or goof off..

the magic eraser worked for the armstrong glass but isn't doing anything at all on the ring mottle so I will probably not worry about it until it is all ground and then I'll just soak it all and see what happens...
wish I had kept her email so I could ask her what she used for glue -- would probably help to know to make getting it off easier...
the only reason this stuff has been on as long as it has, is the pattern is a moon face done in ring mottle and the lowest and largest piece got broken and she had no replacement glass, her local shop went out of business and it has taken me about a year to find the right replacement glass and motivation to get it done (actually got the glass over the summer -- I now have 3 different types of white ring mottle to use in other patterns)

just for clarification purposes, you used spray and wash for laundry on your shower and it worked??? I have glass doors on both my showers and kaboom is the only thing that I've found that works but the fumes kill me because neither bathroom has a window so I'm always looking for something new

The Mister Clean Magic Eraser with Dawn and hot water usually work well for me.
Second try is with the nail polish remover/acetone.
Third try is to scrub with an old toothbrush, Dawn, hot water, and then alcohol. Try letting it soak in a small plastic container overnight with the Original Dawn slathered all over the top of the glass. Then scrub tomorrow with more Dawn and hot water, then an alcohol soak for a half hour or so, and then another attempt at scrubbing.
No one except my husband knows why there are always a few toothbrushes in the kitchen utensil holder.
Good luck!

thanks Tina, that is what my plan of action was going to be except I was thinking ammonia instead of alcohol so I'll try that instead.

I was stunned and amazed. Plus it smelled good.

Definitely going to try that tomorrow except I can't take the doors out because I'd never get that back in by myself and one of them is a corner shower so the walls are glass too... I'll have to improvise some how

Spray and wash I never thought of that either, but as far as soap scum on shower door I have used the Scrubbing Bubbles shower machine since we put the all glass shower doors in (about 4 yrs ) and have never had any soap scum build up. It works great and I even purchased another for the upstairs main tub/shower with tile walls. I hated scrubbing the tile and grout and the last time I had to was before I put the machine in there and even keeps the grout clean. All you have to do is push the button before you get out of the shower and your done. Ok the add is done now back to glassing!!
