I had to share with folks who would understand why I am so excited....my non-glassing friends just don't understand. I found a used ring saw on Craigslist and ended up spending $100 on it. The blade is in good shape, and all the parts and manuals were included. I am just bouncing over this. In addition, once I got there, I found out the company (a custom door company) had their custom leadwork guy retire so they are getting out of doing their own custom work and starting to subcontract it out. But he had a bunch of sheets of clear textured glass (ranging from 2ft X 2ft to 4ft X 4ft) that he was selling for $1 per sheet. Woo Hoo! SCORE! I probably didn't need the glass-but how could I turn down that kind of deal, right?

How could you break a basic rule of glassing? One can never have enough clear glass.

Oops-I forgot to mention that he threw in one of those plastic post-office crates full of bevels...for FREE (right price, indeed). I have to go through them and try to put them in some sort of order-and I don't know if they will all be useful anytime soon. Still-I had a very good day shopping the used glass stuff aisle.

I will have to take a photo or two and post it when I get home tonight. I am just glad to share this with folks who understand. My mom said "That's nice dear, now how is work going?" Like I want to talk about work when I am all bubbly from the second best glass deal I ever got!

I can see how all this excitement is disturbing your normal life patterns, and with nobody understanding your exuberance, I honestly feel you should at least in part try to rid yourself of all of these burdens.
The best way I can figure out how you can do that is to just send me all of the bevels you got. I just want to help you out of this dilemma the best way I can. I will pm my address, and of course to lessen your burden even further I would be happy to pay half of the shipping.

I will certainly keep both of you generous gentlemen in mind as I meditate on my terrible burdens. However, I am not sure that I could, in good conscience, subject you to burdens that I chose to accept into my life. I had full knowledge of the life-changing ramifications of such a decision, and couldn't possibly force them onto another human being (unless, of course, they were to spread the misery by sending that kiln to ME).

Excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor and clean up the coffee I spit everywhere after reading Tom's post. Leave it to him to come up with such a special offer to help someone with life's burdens. How generous of you Tom
