Never, ever assume that your uncovered coffee is safe just because it's across the room from the grinder. Of course, I never would have found that little circle if I hadn't heard the "plop"!

Yup, can be a bad thing, I have to take my grinder out and put it on the kitchen counter to use it. Too dang inconvenient to try and use it in the glass room. No space, not very good light, and no water.

I know, I know, but I'd just brought it in there and set it down and forgot the cover, got busy doing something else then went to the grinder without thinking. Never again...pinky swear!

What are you doing with ANY uncovered consumable items in your glass area while working on glass?? That would depend on the size of the workspace and maybe if one drinks the dregs....

When i work, I'm always throwing a tennis ball to my Golden retriever UNLESS I'm working with any lead products. My two car garage has been turned into my studio with a 6x4 table, glass racks, shelves , pulll out draws , drawing table . So I can easily toss balls to my companion . I read someone there was a studio that had dog that died of lead of poisoning becuse they played with the ball while working with lead and it transferred the lead to the poor pooch. When I walk him twice daily I always do a good hand washing first. I don't drink coffee but my hot tea is in a covered straw cup. Drink water out of bottles with tops.

I follow the no food or drink rule. I also follow the rule about changing shoes, I did forget for awhile to do this and a shard of glass went right thought the rubber sole. Lesson learned the hard way.
Safety first.

Look, I would never make light of safety in the studio...I think my first sentence in my first post said as much. I keep shoes, full coverage, not clogs or flip flops, next to the studio door. I cover my clothes when I work at the grinder and saw and wear a mask when I work with powders or mix kiln wash. I don't eat in the studio at all but I do have my coffee and usually in a covered mug. I do not let my dog in the studio for any reason. I found it a little funny that the one time in 10 years that I forget to cover my coffee I get the zing, plop! As always...safety first! Back to the grinder now.

I got Pledge in my coffee yesterday and as I was drinking the coffee which tasted funny, I was reading the Pledge can to see if it was going to kill me and when.
