I've decided to try an experiment with dimensional fusing and using frit. I plan on using opal white with painted details for the tree trunks and then using colored frit for the foliage.

This is just a rough lay out of the trunks. The rest of the project will be on the fly as far as the design goes. It will measure 11 x 11 inches

This will be an interesting piece, Kev.  Are you planning on adding anything around the bottoms of the trees or just the foliage?

I'm not sure what will happen with it at this point...it's kind of a design on the fly deal.

I may add some bushes to the bottom..I suspect it will end up having a contemporary look and feel to it.

Hi Anne. It is my plan to tack fuse , as i want to retain a lot of texture to those areas. I will be making my own frit with all different sizes being used.

It'll look really good tack fused Kev, you'll get that great dimensional look you want. I make my own frit too, much more useful and a lot less expensive. Looking forward to seeing this finished, it'll be really striking. You have such great fusing ideas!

Well here is Stage 1.

Looks pretty rough and tacky at this point, but I think if the fusing goes well and then the black paint is applied for the details, I think it will really come together.  Time will tell.

Pardon the pic..it's a little blurry.

It seems like it was a long time coming getting back into it, but it is cooking as we speak. Again, another experiment...love  experiments. There is a bit of mystery as to what will happen with it and what it will look like in the end, because at this point, even I don't know...lol

That's going to be very nice. It reminds me of an impressionist painting. Well done!

Here it is fused. It retained quite a bit of texture, a little less than I expected, but that will make it easier when it comes time to apply the paint, which is the next step. The black paint will add the detail to the tree trunks and also help to differentiate  the leaves.

I applied the matt layer of black paint today and removed what I wanted to. Presently it is firing.

Cook and cooling time is a pain waiting for the results, huh Kev.  Can hardly wait as I am sure is true for you too.
