I know what you mean about the welbond and larger pieces, when I did my grecian urn some of the glue still shows but being black glass and that I have it on a wall it's ok. I will try the silicone or maybe look into the mac tac

The MAC glue is a little runny, but it holds solid and is crystal clear.
