I am in the middle of creating a whirl that will be teardrop shaped and contain a spinning photo rather than the other adornments usually used in the standard whirls.

I soldered a 2 piece hinge pipe in the middle of the pieces of glass.  The glass is iridized water glass and pink on cream iridized.

I will be attaching a piece of the hinge to the back of the glass enclosed photo.  I used the new wave foil on the photo to give it more interest

When it is completed, I will insert the hinge bar into the tube and make a loop to hang it with, and crimp it at the top so it doesn't pull out.  I will also have to come up with a way to keep the photo in the right place, so it doesnt' slide down the hinge bar, to far

Why don't you use those fishing line spinner things?

thanks everyone.  I came up with this idea shortly after everyone started posting the whirls.  This pattern is a very altered teardrop design from a dear Friends concept of a teardrop items she makes.

I plan on showing this item for custom orders for family keepsake orders.

I like my gin with a twist (lemon, but lime will do)- never mind trying to make a perfect martini.

I have been known to whirl under the influence of same. There is also a glass involved.

So I'm not that far off topic, am I.

You can keep your Gin, I prefer Vodka - lemon, lime or even kumquat twist will do, and just pass the cork of the Vermouth over the glass (never touching either the contents or the container).

What an interesting idea.
Will this be a commissioned piece, or gift?

Thanks De and Lady Helen

Helen, I plan on showing it for in the hope to get some custom orders, in the mean time I can have it in my home, as that is my daughter with her children.  It was last years Christmas picture.  The baby is the one that was born around the time that your twin grand children were born.

Lovely idea, Joan.  I hope you get lots of commisions!
Just another idea/method:  When I do a mini whirl with a crystal/whatever hanging in it,  I embed a small (fishing) swivel at the top inside the whirl and a slightly larger one to hang it by.  Then add the crystsal with a jump ring.   Then (in theory!!)  the whirl can turn as well as the trinket inside.
Good luck with your shows! smiley

They should not even be kept in the same cabinet. One must avoid
any contamination.

Good Lord, please put the cork back on all those booze bottles, the fume vapors are starting to fill the air and my customer does not want an abstract interpretation of the "sail at sunset" panel. LOL
