I have a 'constant client' who collects whirls - she has at least one version of every full size whirl I have ever made! ( that's quite a few! - she won't tell me how many, and avoids me delivering to her home)  This is good for business !!  However, sometimes she comes up with an idea and is'nt interested in how viable it is!   Last Christmas she wanted a whirl with a black and white cow in it.   After much head scratching and bad language I came up with one (first attachment).   This year she says she wants another 'different' one - but still a black and white cow!   Now cows don't DO much - they eat and create cow pats......   Anyway - Ian suggested the tree,  which worked well to sarisfy the need to attach something to each ring for stability.   Still think a whirl should be fantacy with wings and flowers to reflect light etc etc - but the customer is always right!   Right??!!
Anyway - here they are - sincerely hope she is now done with cows!

You did much better than I would have!  They are delightful.  And a lot of people collect cows.  Are the little yellow flowers beaded?

Love those! (love cows, too) I just learned about whirls recently and am attempting my first one now. I think it is going to be addictive if it come out okay.

Thank you Rebecca,  and yes they are beaded - too small to make in glass,  but needed some more colour!
I have discovered that a lot of people like cows!   I s'pose that living on a farm and seeing them go by every day (especially when you are trying to get out of your driveway and they ignore you)   just makes them sort of ordinary for me.   I like to escape into fantacy!

Good luck with your whirl Audrey - look forward to seeing it finished!   You're right - it can become addictive!   I really enjoy creating a little enclosed world.   Have Fun,

very nice...

the tree seems to add more life to it...

RIGHT, especially when you consider them a "constant client" -- I really bend over backwards for people who have come back more than once or twice for something...

I love them. You have a great way of giving something so plain an attitude. The added color with the black/white cow is exceptional.

Thank you all for your kind comments!   Yes,  I kinda think "buttercup"  has attitude too - think I might use her again, - in a circle lightcatcher though - not a whirl!!!

My British girlfriend and I sometimes refer to each other as a WOC
(backwards cow) so I find this piece amusing and very well done!

Do you know if your customer put her whirls outdoors?

Hmmm - seem to have lost my last post - so if it turns up - excuse the repetion!
No, Helen,  I think all the whirls hang inside.   There should'nt be a problem with them outside, - except that we live in a VERY windy place,  so any glass outside has to be very secure and not close enough to anything to blow against and smash!

WOC - I like that!  How very British!   smiley

I had a zillion (almost) whirls hanging outside for a couple of years.  We don't have extreme weather, but we have a little bit of everything. A little cold, a little hot, a little wind, a little thunderstorm, a little tornado, ...
