No, I was thinking of dimensionally fusing them to the surface.

Just a dumb guess here, when backlit, won't the stars look darker instead of lighter, if surface fused?

Those stars!!! I would agree with Chantal that the stars will look darker when backlit but then so will the other colors too.  While you could get translucents and do the whole panel that way you can't get translucent white so it'll be tough to get around the 'darker' thing.  I think this is going to look great Kev and if you don't like the dark backlit thing you can use it as a wall picture and opal glass for the whole thing.  Problem solved!

Not hardly - that's the way I tackle most of my stuff (and usually pay the price for not FULLY planning the project).
