Welcome Mike! Glad to see you here with us. There are a few here that have tackled plating and have done a great job with it. I am sure they will be of great assistance to you.

We are a friendly helpful lot here.

My name is Barb and I started doing stained glass four years ago.  I wanted something to take my mind off work, some stress relief.  I signed up for a community college class that was not very good, but buying tools led me to a local glass shop which gave classes, there I got hooked!

I continue to go to class every week and we have a great group of "regulars" who all share ideas and opinions.  When it comes to someone asking for an opinion, we all have one to share!  LOL

I am a retired police officer who has found a second career as a labor union representative, representing police officers.  I have three grown children and five grandchildren.  Doing stained glass was very far removed from any other activity I have ever been involved in but I have learned I really enjoy the creativity of it and it takes my mind off of everything else going on.  I am in it to stay as I have transformed a portion of the house into my "shop" area.  I find myself up much later at night telling myself "just one more piece"!

I live in the suburbs of Chicago, IL and have my entire life.  Have a vacation/retirement home in Fairfield Bay, AR and try to spend as much time as possible there, but think I am still some years from retirement.

I really enjoy this site, there is such good information here and such friendly people too.

Barb, I', glad you're here. I'm a retired PD dispatcher, 22 years on radio and 5 pushing paper. I have only been glassing since retirement. It definitely uses a different part of your brain!

I saw your post here too and read that you were a dispatcher.  It's like finding long lost family when you find somebody else who worked so many years in law enforcement

Glad to meet another who has also "been there, done that"!  I have seen your work and you are very talented.  So glad to meet you here!

Hello glass artists!  I am a glass artist in Fairbanks, Alaska.  My art comes by commission in churches.  I am currently designing two windows for a church in Ruby, AK., one of St. Peter in Chains and the other The Holy Family.
I am a happy wife of almost 47 years, mother of 5 grown children, grandmother of 13, great grandmother of 4.  My husband and son in law built me a nice studio, which I am able to do my glass, sew, paint water colors and hang out.
I love my family, my state, and my art.  I don't know much about blogging or on line chatting but I'll get the hang of it.

Hi all, just a quick introduction. My name is Petro.  I am from South Africa and was told by a fellow South African, Beth, who is a member of AOG, about the lovely bunch of people on this forum.  I have been busy with stained glass for quite a while (more or less 17 years), and never realized what is out there!!!, meaning something like stained glass forums.  Could have learned a lot, but ignorance cost me a lot of good! In this case, ignorance was definitely NOT bliss!!
I only learned the copper foil and solder method and does everything in this method, which is probably why my supplier(the only one around here) tells me I am crazy. Love it, the came not so much.  I went on a 'crash' course just after I started, maybe that is why!
We are not as fortunate to have a big choice of stained glass suppliers in this country.
I use to teach for a few years at the studio where I went. I started teaching at my house six months ago.  An old friend who sold his house in the city and moved to the country asked me to 'take over' his students and I cannot believe how much I  missed it and I enjoy it a lot. As long as they don't want something done in lead came! Lol And that is about it!

Hi. My name is Art and I live outside of Asheville,NC.  I moved here about 12 years ago from the gulf coast of Florida and originally from Chicago.  I've been a tool and die maker by trade all my life and had my own shop for many years.  When I retired a few years ago, I needed a hobby to keep me busy so started checking into stained glass and love it. I've always done detailed work with my hands, so this was very natural for me. I watched some videos on You Tube and was off and running.  I still have a small machine shop for tinkering and also do decorative iron work.  This part of NC has a lot of art and craft shows, so hope to be making the circuit someday. So far I've given much away to my 3 daughters and friends they all think it's great, but I know where every flaw is on each piece.   Hoping to learn and grow my skills from those of you that have been around it for some time.     Thanks, Art
