Home again! Cool show this weekend. We were in an area where there was NO cell phone tower. We had 2 whole days, thousands of people, and no phones ringing. What a shock.......and a treat. However that meant my mobile card reader wouldn't work. Everyone told me not to worry everyone comes loaded with cash. This is the first show I've ever done and come home with a bunch of 50's. And it was a decent show too - my sales were $60. lower than what I'd hoped to sell. For a first time show that's pretty awesome.
So, those of you that are doing shows this year I wish you that kind of luck! Great crowd, there to spend $ and they did! Sold lots of things for Christmas presents. I didn't take any Christmas stuff and should have. Will know better for next year. However..........people are watching what they spend. The maximum piece (price wise) that anyone bought was $35. - and they looked at most everything for price before they made their purchase. That's not a whole lot different than in years past but I thought those of you doing shows could use that info.
Anyway, just a heads up for you!

I like your math if your doing taxes but my bookkeeping bit cant get around the bunch of 50's, the lots of sales and $35. Should I congratulate you on 600? Merry Christmas!

Awesome Anne, glad to hear it was more then worthwhile :) . Are you still thinking of doing the show that's in the winter, I remember you mentioning one that had a long and tricky drive.

Nope, the shows I do are much more than that. That's why I'm always harping on keeping the prices down, small sells! If I was only doing $600 shows I wouldn't do them. I do large ones, costs more to get in but they bring the people that buy. My average costs (entrance fees) for a show end up being about 25-30% of my sales, but I'm prepared to pay that for the volumes. Yes I'm going to do that show Amber. I actually have 3 more to do, all of them are out of town. One is 2 hr, one is 4 hr and the other is 7 hr away. Lots of driving, and on winter roads, but they're good shows. The 2 hr one is a one day show but it's a good one so that's why I continue to do it. The others are 3 and 4 day shows - kind of a grind but we both like spending the money we make at them so we figure 3 weekends in November aren't too much to give up. Thats when we do 75% of our year.

I am happy for you.
Can't remember where I read it though the advice was to only bring a couple of high end items, something about piquing interest for future commission works. Don't forget those business cards. Not sure if you bag the sales though including a business card to me is a wise move. You just never know in life.

Thanks for the heads up, Anne. I'm getting ready for my first show...October 10th. Then I have 2 more in November. I agree...small sells and it really does add up. :)
