I would really like to learn how to do decorative soldering.  Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks.

I know there's a book you can buy on it Judyth but in my experience it's been one of those things that you get better at as you practise. I use the wet sponge method a lot - it's not fun to clean (use an old toothbrush) but I really like the effect it gives. What you do is run a bead of solder on your line then once it's cooled touch your soldering iron to the solder then immediately touch it with a wet sponge.  It'll give you a sploosh of solder.  If you don't like how it looks or it's not enough you can put another drop of solder on and again touch it with your wet sponge. I'll attach a pic here that will give you an idea of what it looks like.

Thanks Anne.  I'll have to try that.  It looks like fun.  Crystal holders--neat idea!

thanks Becki.  These were nothing special, just something I tried to see if it worked! Personally I wouldn't have wanted one cause I saw them as dust collectors but I had a special order for $1000 worth of the triangle one so of course I made them. I do like doing that kind of solder though!
