I thought I would try a smaller piece this time. I'm feeling a little simple minded these days, so this will be perfect...LOL. I ordered some fan lamp bases from LA (these are awesome), so I thought I would give it a go. This will be a fused painted piece similar to the Vivaldi Series. The pic posted is merely a vague guide to begin with.

Thanks LA for the great bases, and the template to begin the design.

Joan,

I don't have them posted anywhere -- they are the same ones I've shown on my finished fan lamps in the various start to finish threads... once I get some polyurethane put on a few more, I'm going to post them in the retail area...

here is what they look like without the stained glass in them -- this particular batch is cherry but I never know from batch to batch what wood will be used...

thanks Kev,

what are the dimensions on this? it looks a little taller than anything I've put in these bases so my concern is it will end up too top heavy...

Anne,

I can't take credit for making them, my husband does them for me... all I do is the finish work when I don't get lazy and mail them to my mother's husband to do (he works cheap, I send the bases and he finishes them and I buy him shrimp cocktail from a really nice seafood restaurant up there)

It's 9 3/4 inches tall by 8 3/4" wide. If it's too top heavy or unstable, I will attach another wider piece of base wood to your base.

I usually do them 7-8" tall and 11" wide so you might be okay especially where it is going to rest on the base

I know that you have LA's base you're working with, but you can also buy a cast metal base, that's fairly heavy and that might hold it also.

I doubt it will hold 1/4 inch glass. LA had the slots made wider just for me..isn't that sweet?

I didn't have to make them wider, that is the width he does standard; however, he offered to make them wider if you decided you needed them done...
